so i've been reading in
fanthropology-- historical events and milestones in fandom and 50 most important events in fandom in particular, and i thought 'huh, i wonder what the history of U2 slash is like, especially pre-internet.'
i myself am relatively new to U2 (band and fandom). band-wise, i remember disliking them intensely when Pop was new, and then a friend lending me/forcing me to listen to Best Of '80-'90 my senior year of high school (would have been '99 or '00) and thinking 'ok, this isn't so bad.' then hearing ATYCLB for the first time, and being impressed enough to see them in Milwaukee on the Elevation tour.
fandom-wise, i remember hearing ATYCLB and (having been a slasher in the Star Wars fandom for a year or so by then) being curious about U2 fic. but at that point i thought RPS was a gross crossing of the line. but after i saw U2 in Milwaukee, i went back to my dorm and immediately devoured all the U2 slash i could find. i had seen the light, ohyes. :D
so my actual question(s):
how long have you been a fan of U2? and how long did it take you to think that they were all shagging like bunnies? how'd you come to this enlightened conclusion? what made you look for slash fic and other crazies like you? (come on now, we're all insane.)
