Challenge #34: Finish This Fic

Sorry about the delay, I was out until all hours last night and haven't had a chance to get this to you until now. This marks the end of the Orange Bible Challenge; all the the (so far one) entries can be found here.

The new challenge is a bit different from the usual fare. I've got a few paragraphs of an unfinished fic written by an anonymous, but awesome, member of this community (aka: not me!). Your job is to take the scene that was set and finish it, flesh it out and make it yours. It's purposely a bit vague so that you can take it in whichever direction you like, but I think it sets a lovely scene. Your fic must begin with these paragraphs, and the rest is up to you. This challenge is due at 1159pm PST on Monday, December 24th. And now that I think about it, we'll have a week off between challenges due to the holidays and my own familial commitments. This means, of course, another weeks' extension of the prize giveaway. Now, it is set for January 21st, 2008. So far there are three options for prizes, though I may get more as time goes on. One is U2 paraphernalia, one is some sort of paid LJ time/icons, and the third is a creative contribution made to order (perhaps a layout, icons, maybe even a fic in your honor by various creative persons I've spoken to about this idea). Anyway, rest assured that I'm working on it. And right now, it looks like clandestine269 is in the lead. Remember, there is a runner-up position as well! Good luck!
