Lunch-break drive-by survey

A bit of background: A few months ago (wow, was it that long?) we had a series of discussions here on penis euphemisms we never want to see again (by![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
needleandspoon), fic preferences, song fics: do or don't? (both by clandestine269), pairings, and subsequently, clandestine269's Most Repulsive Pairings. (Do tell me if I've forgotten something; there have been surveys and discussions like these long before I came around, notably by Berlynn Wohl in The Processor, but I can't find them in the old posts.) I promised a few people that I'd open up another discussion, so here's one.
Berlynn Wohl had a discussion about eras here quite some time ago, and I wondered if anything has changed since that time. U2 slash fic set during Achtung Baby/Zoo TV and before Boy ("Baby!U2") seemed to be the favorites of most of the writers at the time, given the amount of plot-driving forces, angsty or otherwise, present during those periods. Some eras, like Pop and October-UF, however, seem to be woefully neglected. I'd love to someday go through the archives and classify the fics by era to see how each era fared with the slash fandom.
Anyway, before I start rambling, my questions:
1. What is/are your favorite era/eras to read? To write? Or: Do you have a favorite era?
2. Why/why not?
3. What era do you wish would get written more about? Why?
4. How do the pairings in your head vary through the eras? Are they fixed or fluid?
5. (Insert other random era-related comments here. Or if you have any other questions to ask or want to answer, I'll edit this post to add those.]
6. EDIT: (Inspired bylydia_petze's comment) When did you first get into U2 slash? (i.e. Were you a slasher way back during, say, War? Hee. Just curious.)
